Perth Australia- Arrival

We arrived in Perth at about 9:30pm. The Aussie customs are very strict with things that we bring into the country. I Brought some food items for my Brother's family in Perth and we have to declare and empty all out baggages for them to search every pocket.

Immediately upon exiting the Customs checks area we found this information isle where all kinds of maps and tourist information booklets..all for free!

Outside Airport

Me

Being unfamilar with Perth and too busy to research the place, we decided to follow my Brother's family daily routine for the first day. We will first send the kids to school, then go to the suburb shopping centres and supermarkets.

Class starts

School kid's bags outside the classroom while they run into class

School's ended

Bubble Gum machine

We had some discount coupons and bought 4 Large Domino Pizza for only AUD4.95 each.

Large Celeryn at a local grocery store

Grapefruit

Fresh Veggies

We had a great time at the supermatkets because some thing are really cheap just before closing time at 5pm. At 4plus pm the supermatket will start slashing prices of bread/cakes/pastries & poutry meats to more than 1/2 price. We bought 3 very thick slabs of Aussie beef steak for only AUD4 and pasta salad for 50cents. We also bought a pack of 8 donuts for 50cents too.

Eating out can be pretty costly in Perth as a normal sandwich or wrap is more than AUD6(S$8) and Asian food is about AUD7-8 for a plate of rice or noodles!

bought this kangaroo steak at the supermaket for ADU3.95. And I thought kangaroos are suppose to be a national treasure?? anyway the meat tastes like tender beef.. but the kangaroo meat is quite flavourless.

On the way back to my brother's home,we stopped by Melville as I read on the Tiger Airways inflight magazine about The Miami Bakehouse(just opposite Melville Plaza) . The Miami Bakehouse has won more than 100 national baking awards including Most Successful Exhibitor for Pastry Cooking at the 2004 Perth Royal Show.

We went for the unconventional Crab & Feta pie & Lasagna pie for AUD6.70 & AUD5.20 respecitively
